In collaboration with Danish colleagues and the Chinese institute BGI Research, Slovenian scientists have discovered the olm’s or the ‘’human fish’’ genome.
Based on this, the new treatment options for humans, such as wound healing, could be developed in the future.
According to the researchers, we could better understand the metabolic processes in humans and improve medication treating diabetes.
In Slovenia, the project is run by Rok Kostanjšek of the Ljubljana Biotechnical Faculty.
