Photographer Stojan Kerbler, and ballet dancer and choreographer Milko Šparemblek are the winners of this year's Prešeren Prizes.

The Prešeren Fund Committee members said that Milko Šparemblek places among the top globally renowned artists whose work has influenced how dance is thought of nowadays. At 91 years of age and a career spanning seven decades, he is also the oldest still working choreographer in the world.

Commenting on Kerbler’s work, the committee said his photographic opus is a magnificent fresco of the life of the Haloze people and is a value of national importance that both the professional and general public can agree on.

The Prešeren Prizes are Slovenia's top accolades for lifetime accomplishments in the arts.
