The telecommunications company Telekom Slovenia and the Port of Koper are due to set up a test network with 5G technology within the next three years.

It's implementation is to begin by the end of this year.

It's hoped that the test will help to improve the port's efficiency, resulting in a lower impact on the local environment.

The project is being co-financed by the EU's multi-billion Euro Horizon 2020 programme for research and development.

Similar test projects will be set up in Hamburg and the Greek port city of Piraeus, among others.
