Zala Jakša from the Slovenian Statistics Office said that "in 2021, there were approximately 700,000 mothers in Slovenia. The majority, 41 percent, had two children. One-fifth had one child, 11 percent had three children, while the rest had four or more children."

The average age of Slovenian mothers giving birth has risen from around 29 in 2002 to about 31 in 2022.

Last year, there was a nearly 5% decrease in births compared to the previous year, the lowest in 50 years.
