The campaign goes twelve years back when the Slovenian Beekeepers' Association started the project.

Over the years, the "honey breakfast" project has evolved into Slovenian Food Day promoting locally produced food and the benefits of eating breakfast.

This means that more than 250,000 children at schools and kindergartens get Slovenian honey, bread, butter and milk, and locally grown apples for breakfast today.
