All vehicles driving in Slovenia need to be equipped with winter equipment from today until 15 March under the country's traffic safety law.
The required gear consists primarily of winter tyres. In the absence of winter equipment, drivers must have snow chains in the vehicle.
Drivers who have neither winter tyres nor chains face a fine of EUR 40, and up to EUR 500 plus penalty points in case of causing delays for other drivers by getting stuck in snow.
The first shipment of snow this coming winter season is forecast end of this week.
