Maribor was one of the most heavily bombed parts of Yugoslavia during the 2nd World War.

The process of making the bomb safe was delayed by 20 minutes due to a late train which had to pass by on a nearby track.

The head of the unit for protection against unexploded ordinance, Darko Zonjič, said that the deactivation of the bomb went exactly according to plan and that the team had done its job, as expected.

A siren just before 11 a.m. signalled the end of the operation, allowing approximately 50 people to return safely to their homes.
