The 55th Munich security conference, which brings together global leaders and security experts, is coming to a close today. The conference was attended by over 600 delegates and it deliberated at length on a host of security-related issues. German Chancellor Angela Merkel concretely spoke about fighting for multilateralism saying that we have to fight for this Europe, for multilateralism, and against all those who think they can solve the domestic problems of others better than anyone else. President Borut Pahor also attended the conference and commented after the meeting adjourned yesterday

“Europe wants to hold back when it comes to radical interventions into the (political) structure, especially if there are no clear alternatives. But on the other hands the USA wants to change the structure radically, with no regards to the predictability of the consequences.”

On the sidelines of the conference, Pahor held several bilateral meetings, including with German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas, Montenegrin President Milo Đukanović and Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov. The 55th Munich Security Conference was also attended by Slovenian Foreign Minister Miro Cerar and Defence Minister in Karl Erjavec.
