Slovenian Foreign Minister Miro Cerar is attending today and tomorrow the meeting of European and Asian foreign ministers in Madrid. They will be discussing possibilities to strengthen multilateralism and boost sustainable cooperation, as well as several global and regional issues. Cerar will take part in the plenary at the meeting on upholding multilateralism and also hold several bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the event. The ASEM meeting was set up in 1996 to take place by-yearly in Europe and Asia and will be chaired this year by EU's new foreign policy chief Josep Borrell. ASEM has since its beginning developed into a major forum for dialogue and cooperation between Europe and Asia.
