Today is the first advent Sundays which mark the beginning of the season of advent. The 28-day long advent period is a time meant for preparations for Christmas and is marked with an advent wreath or advent crown that contains 4 candles. The candles are gradually lit up one by one on each of the 4 Advent Sundays during this period symbolizing hope, love, joy, and peace. Due to the coronavirus epidemic, this advent season will be a little different for most churchgoers, but most processions will be broadcast on national TV.
