Several events, exhibitions and workshops across Slovenia today raised awareness of the importance of bees. Around 75% of global food crops rely on animal pollination, a third on bees alone, so to emphasize this fact, a shopping centre in Celje today emptied about 70% of its fruit and vegetable shelves.

The main international ceremony took place in Rome today and was hosted by the Slovenian Agriculture Ministry and the Food and Agriculture Organisation. Participating in the event was also Minister Aleksandra Pivec.
