Turjak castle
Situated southeast of Slovenia’s capital, Ljubljana, Turjak Castle is one of the largest, if not the largest castle in Slovenia. From its construction and up to the Second World War it was owned by the Counts of Auersperg, also known as the Counts of Turjak, who were one of the most important aristocratic families in the area of present-day Slovenia. The castle, which burnt down during the war, is now owned by the state. It has been under renovation for decades and is now regaining its former splendour.
Pilot Matev¾ Lenarčič
Matev¾ Lenarčič is both a pilot and photographer. Flying means the world to him and gives him great pleasure, while his other hobby, photography, enables him to look at the world from a different perspective. He has published several books on photography and reached a new milestone in aviation. In 2004, he was the first pilot to fly solo around the world in an ultra-light plane made by the Slovenian company Pipistrel, and managed to set a new speed record during that flight as well.
Painter Kostja Gatnik
Kostja Gatnik is one of the most versatile artists in Slovenia. He is an active painter, graphic designer, illustrator and designer of puppets and theatre costumes; in short, he is involved with everything that has something to do with the visual arts. He is also a legendary comic strip artist, and the author of the famous comic book collection entitled Magna Purga.
Jewellery by ®are Ognjenovič
®are Ognjenovič is a master jewellery designer. Creating in his studio in the old city centre of Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, he makes custom-made pieces, catering for the taste of those wishing for something different. His jewellery is a perfect combination of traditional and contemporary forms, with a touch of something mystical.
Accordionist Marko Hatlak
Marko Hatlak is a virtuoso on the concert accordion. The accordion is a very popular instrument in Slovenia, in particular in popular folk music, but Marko Hatlak was never interested in that. This superb musician performs classical music, and has also been completely captivated by tango and the compositions of Astor Piazzolla.
