LAKE BOHINJ
Lake Bohinj is Slovenia's largest permanent lake. It lies within the Triglav National Park, surrounded by the peaks of the Julian Alps. The lake and its surroundings are a popular destination for people who like to spend their free time actively. Livestock still graze on the surrounding mountaintop pastures, and from their milk the excellent cheese from Bohinj is made.
ALPINE FLOWERS
Because of their proximity to the Adriatic Sea and their limestone base, the Slovenian Alps are an ideal environment for alpine flowers. As a result, they boast a high degree of bio-diversity – many of the plants are endemic to Slovenia. Therefore, it is no surprise that the country’s mountains have attracted botanists from around the world for centuries.
SVETE GORE
Svete gore, above the town of Bistrica ob Sotli, is one of Slovenia's oldest and most popular pilgrimage sites. It consists of five churches located on a hill of the same name, and it still represents a challenge for archaeologists, historians and art historians.
KUZMA TURNTABLES
Even though turntables and vinyl records have been written off many times, they remain the best source of great-sounding music for audiophiles. The popularity of records is again on the rise around the world. The Slovenian Franc Kuzma is manufacturing turntables and tone-arms, which are the dream for any audiophile.
PHOTOGRAPHER ANDREJA PEKLAJ
Andreja Peklaj is an excellent nature photographer, and has been capturing nature's beauty through the camera lens for four decades. She is particularly drawn to the intermittent Cerknica Lake, which has many faces and never fails to seduce her with is magic and harmony.
