In the past year a group of researchers at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics achieved one of the biggest results in the 40-year research of the bursting of gamma rays. At the same time the Institute of Chemistry secured a project worth 11 million euros, together with its partners, for developing a technology which would produce methanol out of CO2 emissions from thermal power plants.

The Jožef Stefan Institute developed a new method of creating complex cell factories, which would be of use to the chemical, pharmaceutical and food industries. In 2014 the Jožef Stefan scientific research institute also developed the EventRegistry system, which has a capacity to analyze more than 300 thousands documents and news articles per day. One of the prototypes is currently being tested by media giant, Bloomberg.
