Prime Minister Miro Cerar has been holding ongoing discussions with Foreign Minister Karl Erjavec following Ronny Abraham’s resignation as Slovenia’s arbiter in the border arbitration procedure with Croatia. Erjavec said that he and Cerar on Thursday talked about the future of the arbitration procedure and about plans to hold a meeting of the Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee at the Foreign Ministry. Erjavec added that on Friday he will fill Cerar in on the details of the planned meeting.

Erjavec – who last week said that the appointment of Abraham was a great victory for Slovenia’s diplomacy – was hesitant to offer his comments on Abraham’s resignation.

Will the meeting of the Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee take place?
Slovenia’s politicians are trying to come up with a solution to the arbitration issue. Head of the Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee Jožef Horvat said that the closed meeting was supposed to take place on Thursday. However, he added that it will obviously take more time for them to convene the meeting. Parliamentary Speaker Milan Brglez, meanwhile, remarked that the current situation gives Slovenia no major cause for concern.
