The 26-year old athlete from Kisovec went into cycling just five years ago, after his career as a not just a mediocre ski jumper. After all, nine years ago he became a junior world champion at the team race in Planica, and won a silver medal a year before that; on both occasions Jurij Tepeš was also a member of the team.

After the fall he fell in love with bicycles
In 2007 he suffered a nasty fall at the Planica ski jumping hill (SEE VIDEO). He fell in love with bicycles during his recovery after the fall. When in 2012 he won the Juriš na Vršič competition with the record time of 33:02, it was simply impossible for the leading Slovenian club Adria Mobil to overlook him. They offered him a contract, and the 22-year old Roglič officially became a professional cyclist.
Three years later his dream came true
In April 2013 MMC made an interview with Roglič. His secret wish at that time was: "I would love to win a mountain stage at one of the renowned races," the cyclist from Zasavje told as. "This fairy tale is missing only a happy ending," one of the readers wrote his comment of the news. And the fairy-tale ending was written on Sunday, May 14. And not at any race, but at the most prestigious cycling stage of the world - and not at the mountain stage, but, which is even more unbelievable, at time trial.
On his spare bike, without his water bottle and his counter
But it was just an introduction to his sensational Sunday victory. Before Giro, Roglič never participated in any time trial longer than 18 kilometres, and on Sunday he won the 40.5 km long stage among the Tuscany hills. And to add to the thrill, as "Rogla" confided to the readers of his blog, he won on his spare bike, without a water bottle, and after the counter fell of his bike after 10 kilometres.
