The author of the guide and the Dean of the Koper Faculty of Humanities Irena Lazar explained that many monuments that were kept in good shape, restored and preserved in the past were now forgotten because there was not enough money or interest to keep this going.

The guide was published in the frameworks of a Slovenian-Italian cross-border project. Lazar also said that adding the Slovenian heritage in such an international publication was extremely important and would surely contribute much to making it better known globally.

11 sites in both countries
The book connects 11 archaeological sites in both countries. The guide also features three newly arranged parks in Slovenia dating back to Roman times: an army post in Hrušica, a road stop near Mošnje and a coastal villa in Simon's bay.

The billingual guide is free of charge and can be picked up at the University of Primorska, at the Insitute for the Protection of Slovenia's Cultural Heritage, and at the National Musuem of Slovenia.
