He’s taking the position with two deputies, who resigned after it became clear that Štefanec was a member of the political party Positive Slovenia. It’s still unclear how the commission will function without these two deputies. He has resisted calls to step down.

According to some, the two previous deputies are bound to continue serving until replacements have been found. However, the previous two have already moved on to new jobs.
