The result does not give the government any specific deadline on when to submit the proposal to parliament. Nevertheless all political parties see the outcome as a positive step forward towards the recognition of an independent Palestine.

Palestine has already been recognized by 135 countries, including 9 EU countries. However there is no EU-wide consensus on the issue yet.
