His newly formed party won nearly 35% of the vote on Sunday. Cerar has categorically rejected any cooperation with the second-place party, the SDS, which won 20% of the vote. The pensioners' party DeSUS took 10% of the vote, while three parties took nearly 6%: the neo-socialist United Left, the conservative Nsi, and the traditional left party SD.

Former prime minister Alenka Bratušek's party took 4% while the oldest Slovenian party, the SLS, failed to cross the 4% threshold. (However, votes from abroad are still being counted)

Turnout was low at roughly 51%.
