The Commission for the Prevention of Corruption on Friday announced: Minister Virant and his family did get cheaper airplane tickets at Adria Airways, but it was not the Minister who intervened for the discounts, but his wife through her connections.

Today the daily Dnevnik wrote that also Minister Virant himself has negotiated for the cheaper airplane tickets for himself and his close relatives through Adria former commercial director Tomaž Kostanjšek, supposedly his schoolfellow. 20 business class tickets have been bought, and for each of them Virant paid 150 euros, which is several times less than the regular price.

Minister Virant labelled the newest report on the topic of airplane tickets as slander, and threatened that he would seriously consider legal actions to protect his rights. He also wrote in his response that he had explained all the facts to the Commission for the Prevention of Corruption.

From the report given by the commission it can be understood, Virant claims, that it is not the fault of hundreds of buyers who received the discount that Adria's system for approving discounts is disorderly.

And what is today's comment of the Commission for the Prevention of Corruption? They don't have the documents which are in possession of the daily newspaper Dnevnik, therefore they have already officially addressed the publishing house to forward the documents to them. The Commission for the Prevention of Corruption, most likely with new team members under the leadership of Boris Štefanec, will study these documents and if necessary reopen the Airplane Tickets case.
