In addition to local dignitaries, the opening ceremony will be attended by guests from abroad, including delegations from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Bosnia.

The construction of the mosque is the realization of over 40 years of efforts by Muslims in Slovenia.

The first, and hitherto only, mosque was constructed by the Austro-Hungarian empire in 1916 in Log pod Mangartom for the benefit of Bosnian soldiers fighting at the nearby front. Italian forces later destroyed it.
