Opposition against the date is based on the fact that it would take place during school holidays and a time when many citizens are on vacation. The court is expected to make a decision quickly, as Friday marks the beginning of the official election campaign.

The court today will also hear an appeal by former prime minister Janez Janša, who was convicted of bribery in the Patria case and has been summoned to appear at the Dob prison at the end of the month.
