The book was translated into French by Andree Luck-Gaye. An additional four books by Jančar have been translated into French.

The official prize ceremony will take place in Paris on November 28th. Jančar thereby joins such big names in literature as Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Salman Rushdie and Orhan Pamuk.

The novel “To noč sem jo videl” takes place in Slovenia during the Second World War and the post-war period.
