Only a day after the Danes had published the news of their hosts for this year's Eurovision, RTV Slovenija announced the host of Ema – this will be Ula Furlan, who will also run a new Sunday afternoon show. Ema 2014 will take place on Sunday, 8 March, at 8 pm on the First Programme of TV Slovenija.
"My first memory of Ema dates quite a few years back, I was 10 years old. I think I know at least the refrains of all the winning songs that we’ve sent to the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC). Well, perhaps not quite all of them, but I did sing Tih deževen dan (t/n: A Quiet Rainy Day, ESC 1993) with my best friend Maja from primary school out loud, even right there, in the middle of the Shoemaker’s Bridge, exact to the inhale. Not to mention where and how many times I’ve cooed ‘I can only give you my love’ (t/n: refrain from Only Love, ESC 2002)," notes Furlan.
"Ema marks my life in a new way each year. Be it because I’ve announced my favourite in advance, or because I’m defending my opinion fervently, I’m keeping my fingers crossed and waiting for the results of the voting. In recent years I’ve been particularly enthusiastic about the show that accompanies the event, and I can’t wait for us to find the one, the right one for 2014," adds the actress, who can currently be seen on screen in the Življenje Tomaža Kajzerja (The Life of Tomaž Kajzer) TV series.
Internal selection of participants for the EMA contest
RTV Slovenija has performed an internal selection and invited music performers as well as authors to contribute their entries. The pre-selection is under way, and the final selection will be announced in the coming days. The representative of RTV Slovenija for the ESC 2014 will be chosen at the EMA 2014 contest solely by the viewers of the show through televoting.
The Danish TV network DR unveiled the names of the hosts for all three Eurovision nights on Tuesday. These are Nikolaj Koppel and Lise Rønne, experienced hosts, and Pilou Asbæk, star of the successful Danish political TV series Borgen, which is broadcast in over 70 countries around the world, including Sunday evenings on TV Slovenija.
