Organisations that represent the erased say that the compensation is too low and a disgrace as the erased will get 50 euros per each month that they were erased. The only alternative for the erased is to sue the state.

12.000 requests for compensations are expected according to the Interior Ministry the sum paid would amount to around 130 million euros. Only individuals who have meanwhile obtained permanent residence or have asked to be granted residence but were rejected under the old legislation can demand compensation.
