The European Court of Human Rights ruled that Slovenia needs to pay EUR 240,000 in damages to six plaintiffs with a deadline of three months.

The six people were erased from Slovenia’s registry back in 1992. The court had already ordered the state to pay EUR 20,000 in non-material damages to each plaintiff two years ago. In 1992 around 25.000 people have been erased from the registry.

Today’s decision of the Court in Strasbourg paves the way for the payment of compensation intended for material damages that were inflicted to the erased. A sum of EUR 150 per month of erasure will be given to almost half of the erased.
