Such was Erjavec's response to the statement made by the Austrian Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz, who had warned that Austria might soon start rejecting substantial numbers of migrants at its borders.

Erjavec participated at the Launch Conference of the EU Strategy for the Alpine Region in Brdo pri Kranju. In his statement at the occasion of the conference he explained that they had been previously informed of the intentions of Austria; Kurz had already informed him of the difficult situation our northern neighbours are facing." Obviously the Austrians want to create a domino effect, since no comprehensive European solution exists," he said.

According to him the Slovenian government has already taken the appropriate measures, and "we are sticking to the principle that Slovenia will adopt the same measures as Austria".

He also reminded that at the informal session of the EU Ministers of Interior affairs in Amsterdam the initiative of the president of the Slovenian government is being discussed, proposing a solution for the problems occurring along the Balkan migration route. Should they agree with this solution, in his opinion the initiative would be adopted by the European council as well.
