The debt burden is high and the country had to pay EUR 590 million in interests so far this year, but the cost will exceed EUR 1 billion by the end of the year. In April revenue stood at EUR 737 million. This is significantly more than in recent months. Among other things this was due to higher inflows of value-added tax which can be attributed to the payment of quarterly obligations of taxpayers.
The flow of solid revenue and moderate expenditure is hampered by a high interest payment. If we count out the interest payments, the country would record a primary surplus in April, after a long time. Slovenia has issued EUR 2 billion worth of euro bonds in April and it has repaid EUR 1.5 billion of its debt.
