Yesterday Vinarium was opened by Foreign Minister Karl Erjavec, Hungarian Minister of National Economy Mihaly Varga, and the Mayor of Lendava Anton Balažek.

The observation tower with steel structure and groundfloor of presstressed concrete has nine levels. The top can be reached either with a lift, or by climbing 240 stairs. It can accept up to 50 visitors at once. The groundfloor consists of a restaurant offering also souvenirs, and an information office. At the top there is a glazed observation platform offering view of four countries, Slovenia, Croatia, Hungary and Austria. The plan for the observation tower was made by Oskar Virag from the Vires architectural bureau.

The tower, the construction of which started in January. A part of the cost was covered by 950,000 euros from the European Regional Development Fund, and is the first construction project in Slovenia based on the so-called Building information modeling.
