436. Wembley has a capacity of almost 90.000 spectators. Can we expect a new record for the number of spectators at a match played by the Slovenian national football team? And what is the current record?

Gorazd M.

If Wembley sells out on Saturday it will set a new record for the number of spectators at a match played by the Slovenian football team. The current record for the most people watching a Slovenian football team match was set in 2002 in Paris. A total of 77.561 spectators saw France take on Slovenia. The Gallic roosters won the match with 5:0. Following is a list of all of Slovenia's matches with an attendance higher than 50.000.

437. Wembley Stadium was renovated a few years ago. I'm interested to know how many football fans have come to watch England play since then, who is England's best scorer and other facts…
Gorazd M.

The renovation of Wembley Stadium was completed in the spring of 2007. Since then the English national football team has played 43 matches on that stadium. It has won 30 times, played a draw seven times, and lost six times. The goal difference is 100:33. England players who have scored more than five times in this period are Wayne Rooney (15), Frank Lampard (12), Peter Crouch (9), Danny Welbeck, Steven Gerrard (both 7) and Jermain Defoe (6).

Those matches have had an average attendance of 77.764. The biggest attendance happened in 2008, when England beat Kazakhstan in a World Cup qualifier with 5:1. There were 89.107 spectators in the stands that day. The smallest number of spectators happened this year in September in a qualifying match for Euro 2016, when only 40.181 spectators saw England beat Norway. The fall in interest is confirmed by the chart below.
