Hayböck landed at 127.0 metres and beat Domen by one point (126.0 m). Anders Fannemel (130.5 m) from Norway won third place.

Peter Prevc against Hayböck
After a strenuous and victorious New Year’s Day, Peter Prevc only did two practice jumps at the Bergisel and skipped the qualification series in favour of getting some rest. P. Prevc will thus compete against Hayböck in Sunday’s knockout round in the first series of jumps. Peter’s closest pursuer in the World Cup, Severin Freund (Germany), took sixth place.

Peter’s hope: Not to compete against Domen
“The decision not to jump came after the analysis of practice jumps. I may have confused journalists, since I said I would jump and then didn’t. This was more about practicality than tactics. However, I did hope I would not have to compete against Domen, but other than that, I don’t care who it is. I’m ready for the match,” told Peter Prevc to TV Slovenija.

The third match of New Year’s Tournament at the famous Bergisel in Innsbruck will take place on Sunday at 2 p.m., with live broadcast on TV SLO 2 and MMC.
