By signing the contract the conditions for obtaining the promised three million euros for the start of renovation have been met. In the days that follow the suitable agreements at the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Finance should be finalized.
It will be most important "to avoid complications with public procurements, or illicit state aid. Of special importance is also the decision whether the renovation of the ski resort should be managed by the municipality, or the municipality should form a company to manage it," said Danijel Krivec, president of the commission for renovation of Kanin, the councillor of the Bovec municipality, and the only member of parliament from the Posočje region.
The estimated cost based on an accurate review of the status of all the devices prepared by the Dr. Duhovnik company amounts to three million euros. The mentioned company in its project assures that after renovation the devices will comply with the high standards regulating cableway devices. "The damage to the individual elements, i.e. pillars, is not very extensive, and we have local producers of the bars. By acting wisely, and with engineering skills, the project can be successfully executed. Understandably the start up can't be expected by autumn, unless the work begins in the middle of April," explained Jože Duhovnik from the above mentioned company.
After the circular cableway became the property of the Bovec municipality, the question remains how to obtain the second part of the devices, i.e. ski-lifts and intermediate stations of the circular cableway, which are a part of the bankruptcy estate of the ATC Kanin.
Unbinding offers are being collected for purchase of these assets, expiring on April 15. If the procedure fails, the official receiver Nataša Gibičar will propose to the court a call up to creditors to take over the assets which could not be realised. But HIT from Nova Gorica (presently engaged in a lawsuit for establishing that the claim is non-existent, and for defining dividing rights) and Heta have the dividing rights for these assets, therefore these two creditors will be the first to be called up if the adequate conditions are met. If the dividing rights are withdrawn, the regular creditors will be called up, one of them being the Bovec municipality. That would be the opportunity for the municipality to acquire the assets without major cost.
The mayor of the Bovec municipality Valter Mlekuž signed the contract on transfer free of charge of the circular cableway and Prestreljenik restaurant to the Bovec municipality on April 1 of this year.
