Janša has recently submitted an appeal to the Supreme Court, but no final decision has been made yet. He will be accompanied by supporters, who will calmly express their protest. Janša’s supporters fear for his safety in prison. However prison officials say he will be guaranteed fundamental human rights as all other prisoners, except for the ones who are deprived of some rights due to criminal sanctions.
Janša will see some of his rights curbed in the first five months. After that he will receive some privileges. He is likely to serve his sentence in a semi-open prison section with the use of a PC and TV allowed, but no internet.
The Supreme Court could intervene today and change the course of Janša’s sentence, but that’s highly unlikely.
