The board of the Handball Association gave its support to Janković, the mayor of the City Municipality of Ljubljana, at their correspondence session with a single agenda item. Two more candidates have confirmed their candidacy, namely Andraž Vehovar, former top kayaker, the winner of the silver medal at the Olympic Games in Atlanta, and Bogdan Gabrovec, presently vice-president of the Slovenian Olympic Committee, and president of the Slovenian Judo Federation.

According to general secretary Tone Jagodic the envelopes with the names of the candidates will be opened on Wednesday, November 19. Since the last date for handing in candidatures is on Sunday, the Act on Administrative Procedures demands the deadline is extended by one day. On Wednesday the Slovenian Olympic Committee will inform the public whether more candidates have joined the three mentioned.

The Slovenian Olympic Committee election assembly will take place on December 16, when the successor of Janez Kocijančič, the only president of the Slovenian Olympic Committee so far, will be elected.
