The five-part series of concerts, for which seasonal tickets are available, will take place between April and November at the Janez Trdina Cultural Centre in the town of Novo mesto.

The opening performance of the cycle took place on Friday with a concert by a Slovenian acoustic trio Dovč – Gombač – Krmac. The talented musicians presented their music project titled Sounds of Slovenia (Slovenian: Sozvočja Slovenije).

The motto of this year’s concert cycle is quality jazz and similar music genres. After Friday’s opening concert, the cycle is due to continue in May with a performance of the Dom Big Band from Grosuplje, which has invited Slovenian singers Oto Pestner and Nina Strnad as music guests to celebrate the 100th birth anniversary of American singers Billie Holiday and Frank Sinatra.

In the autumnal part, the cycle will be given a celebrity touch by Paul Jackson, the bass player of the legendary Headhunters founded by Herbie Hancock. Jackson will present Groove or Die, his latest album. Next on the programme is Lenart Krečič, an excellent saxophone player, who will present his new project, called Sharp 6. The Jazzinty Abonma 2015 will come to its close in
November with a performance by the American singer and pianist Jarrod Lawson with his band.

The carefully chosen concerts of renowned Slovenian and international musicians also serve as a tribute to the 650th anniversary of Novo mesto.
