Starting as an modest project of a tree observatory, it quickly exceeded the expectations thanks to outstanding architecture. Today it is a contact point in nature, close to the city, where a number of social events are being held. This project involving the presumably largest tree house in Slovenia has attracted also the attention of the international professional public.
The architectural design was based on the relationship with nature, starting with the material - wood came directly from the forest in which the house was built - but it is also a reinterpretation of the nature itself. The function of the tree observatory is fulfilled with views opening into the surrounding area, which are visible both from inside and outside the treehouse, and allow an active contact with the forest.
"A modest tree observatory, which was its original mission, grew into an open, universal meeting place, where almost anything can happen: the treehouse almost irresistibly lures people into individual, family, group, or school visit to nature, but it has also turned into a true laboratory for exploration and listening to trees, a place for all kinds of creative workshops, indoor and outdoor concerts, poetry evenings and exhibitions," claims the Celje city website http://www.celje.si/en/card/city-forest-tree-house.
The Tree house in the city forest has six wings facing the forest, informing the visitors about the contents and the functions of the forest. The sightseeing is free of charge. The tree house can accommodate up to 30 persons, and can be rented.
