Paint is peeling from the walls of the tunnel. Fixing the problem will cost around 1 million euros. Companies involved in the painting are denying any responsibility. Meanwhile the DARS Motorway company is still looking for a sub-contractor to put in place all the electrical and mechanical equipment in the tunnel.

Construction work on the tunnel to connect Koper and Izola began at the beginning of 2010. The official opening of the tunnel has been postponed for 2014. It's expected to stand at around EUR 70m.
