The last winter’s best alpine skier Tina Maze replaced the trainer of the Team to aMaze team, just a month before the beginning of the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, with Mauro Pini, the 49-year-old Swiss trainer.
The first to publish the news were the Swiss media. The 49-year-old Swiss should train the Slovenian Athlete of the Year until the end of the season. In the past he worked with Lara Gut and Maria Rienda Contreras.
Mazejeva became attached to Magoni
Ronconi joined the team before the beginning of this season, but Tina Maze didn’t repeat the outstanding results achieved during her cooperation with Livio Magoni. The athlete from Črna welcomed Ronconi after Magoni had left, but even before the season started she explained: "It is very difficult to replace a person. I am a person who gets attached to people after knowing them for so many years; for me it is easier to function with such people than with somebody new. I am deeply affected by every change, and it was not easy for me to establish a connection with Walter. I can’t say that we have already reached the stage where the communication is effortless and no doubts are left, but I find that normal. I accepted that. The summer is over, we got to know each other as much as we did. I hope Walter got to know me well enough, both me and Andrea."
Ronconi did not fit perfectly in to the work process
Sandi Murovec, the demonstrator who among others helped Maze perfect her skiing, in June said for MMC that in Tina Maze’s team everything was in perfect order. "I can’t remember the last time I laughed so much. The team is very homogenous, very professional, they are all incredibly dedicated to their work. Andrea Massi leaves nothing to chance; every detail including the smallest one is precisely defined. The serviceman Andrea Vianello is a topmost expert on equipment, and Walter Ronconi blended very well into the team, and I can say he’s totally cool," he said. But soon after the beginning of the season it became obvious that the new trainer hadn’t fit in to the work process optimally, and the proof of that are also somewhat worse performances of the last year’s queen of the alpine skiing on the snow slopes.
