The Croatian food group Agrokor deposited the money on a separate account in Slovenia on Thursday. According to a report by the business newspaper Finance the shareholders got EUR 172m, EUR 86 per share respectively.
Agrokor must now issue a further takeover offer for the remaining 47 percent of Mercator and are expected to pay an additional EUR153m, if the remaining owners accept the EUR 86 per share offer.
In addition to the EUR 172m purchase price Mercator will also get EUR 220m. This money will be earmarked for the repayment of debts, so that its debt will be reduced to just over EUR 700m.
The remaining EUR 20m will be used to improve liquidity, according to Finance.
