Politicians have visited places across Slovenia were the ice storm has caused huge amounts of damage.

President Borut Pahor visited the Notranjsko region, while PM Alenka Bratušek and Defence Minister Roman Jakič went to the Upper Savinja valley. Pahor assessed the situation in the municipalities of Postojna, Pivka, Cerknica, Loški potok and Loška dolina valley. He thanked firefighters and members of other emergency services for their dedication and continuous work in the region.

Meanwhile the PM said that Slovenia has witnessed a major natural disaster and that she was proud to see that solidarity between people was in the forefront. She added that the damage done by the ice storm will be assessed when the situation calms down. The main focus now, according to the PM, was to keep people safe and warm as thousands of households across Slovenia were still without electricity.
