President of Slovenia Borut Pahor in his New Year's missive stressed the importance of a winning mentality in overcoming a crisis.

According to Pahor such mentality can already be felt, which is in his opinion a novelty, and very encouraging. He wished to all citizens that these feelings grow even stronger, and that connectedness would increase among citizens.

"We remain attentive. There is still a lot of distress, we are still facing problems. But there is less fear and more bravery, less gloom and more courage, less egoism and more confidence," Pahor believes.

"I am not talking about statistics and economic recovery indexes. I am talking about the general atmosphere, about feelings. These reflect the actual conditions, which are improving, yet they represent even more – they are the expression of our will, of our winning mentality," the President emphasized.

In the coming year he wishes such feelings would intensify for all the citizens. "What I miss is better connection among us, the awareness that we can only make it together. But it will come. And that will mean that we are once again building our collective future. We can't give up now, we must move forward."
