If I had put the Golden Eagle from New Year’s 4-Hill Tour on top, I would then hang the medal of the world champion around the eagle’s neck, says Prevc.

Prevc is the shining star this ski jumping season, leaving all competition behind so far. He has a firm lead in the World Cup, where he has already won seven times. What is more, he shone brightest at both season’s spectacles, the New Year’s 4-Hill Tournament as well as the Ski Flying World Championship. He is the second Slovenian ski jumper to win both prestigious competitions. Prevc repeated a 19-year-old tour win by Primož Peterka in Bischofshofen and the success of Robert Kranjec’s career in Vikersund four years ago.

"It was a good day. It’s perhaps a bit strange to learn that you’re the world champion from a container house. I’m glad I managed to carry out such flight without a fall at landing and to cancel out Gangnes’ lead. I’m very satisfied," said the 23-year-old ski jumper from Dolenja vas about his new, top achievement of his career. By winning the world championship at Kulm, Prevc has thus reaffirmed his status of the world’s current best ski flyer, having already won two consecutive small Crystal Globes in ski flying.
