Marking the occasion Slovenian NGOs warn of the rising number of human rights violations in the country.

The annual reports of Slovenia's Human Rights Ombudsman grow longer every year. This year the office has already dealt with 21% more cases compared to the year before. Officials have also noticed a rising number of repeat violations. Human Rights Ombudsman, Vlasta Nussdorfer, said the government was finding it difficult to ensure that Slovenia remains a social state with a rule of law. At the same time last year at least 744 thousand people have at least once made an appeal for humanitarian aid.
