The anniversary is being marked in Bled under the title "AS-ov dan" ("AS-ov dan" meaning "Ace's day" in Slovenian). The event is organized so that the saxophone can be presented to the widest possible audience with a variety of different musical styles.

The instrument was invented in the fifties of the 19th century. Saxophones were soon after established as concert instruments.
