Slovenia’s Energy Concept will be a brief, but essential, document that will identify sources of energy until the year 2050. It’s expected that in the near future the country will continue to rely on a wide mix of fossil fuels, nuclear power and hydroelectric power. However, the document will address EU demands for a quarter of all energy in the EU to be from renewable resources by the year 2020.
The drafters of the document have their work cut out for them: electricity consumption is growing and prices are low, making it difficult to find investors. Existing environmentally friendly plants are also struggling financially.
