The 43-year-old Romanian was stopped by officers of the Slovenian Motorway company (DARS) because there was no toll sticker on the windshield of his van. “We have a cooperation agreement with DARS. If they see anything suspicious, they contact us directly, and we take care of it,” Boris Ramot of the Maribor Police Administration said.

“The foreign nationals were taken to the police station, but none of them said they wanted to stay in Slovenia, so they were taken to the immigration detention center, where they remain,” he added.

The foreign nationals were given food and medical treatment, but their condition was not critical. One of the Iranians is a 4-year-old girl. “She was taken good care of,” Ramot said. The migrants were bound for Germany and Sweden.
