His term will expire at the end of August 2018. Before being appointed he was backed by the expert council of the company in Maribor and by the working committee, chaired by the employees of the Opera and Ballet Maribor and appointed by director Danilo Rošker.

The 34 year-old pianist and conductor finished the Ljubljana Academy of Music in 2002, and later completed his postgraduate studies at the Fine Art School in Bern. During his postgraduate training in Switzerland, he began to study conducting and has conducted several Swiss orchestras.
