The project, run by the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Electricity Network Operator SODO, is co-financed with European funds. It is being implemented in cooperation with the Slovenian Motorway Company DARS, Petrol and OMW. The project is part of the Central European green corridors, in which 115 fast charging stations for electric vehicles are planned to be erected in Slovakia, Austria, Germany, Slovenia and Croatia. The head of SODO, Matjaž Vodušek, explained that the charging stations will ensure interoperability and provide free roaming.

"At the fast charging stations, empty electric car batteries with a capacity of 18 do 24 kilowatt hours will be 80 percent charged in just half an hour," said Vodušek and added that the whole project was worth two million euros. From that figure 1,38 million euros came from Slovenia, while the remaining 620.000 euros came from EU funds.
