Slovenia’s response has been praised by both former Yugoslav countries.

Outgoing PM Alenka Bratušek, meanwhile, warned about aid traveling outside the EU. After calling a meeting set to agree on coordinating the aid collection, and meeting ambassadors of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Serbia, she urged Slovenian people to collect donations through charity organisations.

In order to avoid troubles at the customs, Bratušek and foreign representatives advised people to send aid through main charities, like Red Cross and Karitas or foreign embassies.

What those affected by the floods in Bosnia and Serbia need most right now are sleeping bags, folding beds, sleeping pads, rain clothes, rubber boots, diapers, bottled water, pocket flashlights and canned food, ambassadors claimed.

Furthermore, Slovenian Defence Minister Roman Jakič reiterated that our rescue teams are facing problems due to unexploded landmines. It is believed that as many as 120.000 flagged landmines have changed their location.
